It appears 2022 is the year for big brand companies to do a redesign of their user interface on their apps. First, it was Amazon redesigning the interface of Prime Video. Now, it’s Xfinity redesigning the Xfinity Stream app. Comcast is giving customers another platform to access Xfinity TV. They announced that a redesigned Xfinity Stream app will be launching on the Apple TV platform. These will be the first devices to see the revamped app. The stream app is already available on Roku, Amazon Fire, and LG and Samsung Smart TVs. The app is said to be a more intuitive user interface.
The design is meant to make content discovery a lot easier. It will give recommendations and a personalized algorithm that enables customers to keep watching their shows and movies across different platforms and devices. Before the new UI, the user could only see what they were watching on that specific device.
A quote from Michael DelCiello, Senior Vice President, “We are always looking for ways to enhance our entertainment experiences as the needs of our customers evolve – whether that’s expanding to new platforms, launching new features, or adding more programming options.”
The addition to Apple TV devices comes from a team up of the companies in March. This saw the Apple TV+ subscription streaming service launch across Comcast’s platforms. This is for Xfinity customers who weren’t Apple TV subscribers but could get a 3 month trial on the service when they signed up.
