We may not notice but we come in contact with AI every day. Whether it is asking you Alexa what the weather is or telling your remote to turn on the news, it helps to simplify our daily routines. AI has been at the forefront of many conversations lately, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla just donated $10 million to fund a non-profit research company called OpenAI. AI is becoming more intelligent by the second and companies like OpenAI are learning how to integrate this technology into our lives. So where is AI? AI is in many of the industries we meet every day such as the transportation industry, education, healthcare and of course the media industry.
Education has been greatly impacted by AI. Simple tasks like grading papers or exams that used to take hours can now only take a couple of minutes. Grading machines are great for catching mistakes as well and they are beginning to be able to read written answers and essays. Personalized learning also comes into play. Just like targeted ads on Facebook, AI in education can pick up your traits and help students on topics they may be struggling with.
One of the biggest impacts AI has had on our daily lives is within the healthcare industry. Keeping track of thousands of records is never easy but now healthcare workers do not have to. They can simply search a patient and the results will come up in seconds. AI can also help doctors make better decisions on a patient’s health faster with pattern recognition. Lastly, AI can help to personalize medicine for patients. You took a hard fall and have had headaches ever since? AI can detect these symptoms and find out that you have a concussion and can prescribe you the correct treatment option.
The last industry greatly impacted by AI in the media industry. Everyone knows this is the most known industry with AI features because it is 
the industry that people interact with daily. Netflix showing you your top movie or tv shows, that is all from AI. You just got done talking to your friend about American Eagle’s Jean sale, AI. This one shocked me the most, AI is controlling your thoughts on the election, movie stars, and everything in between. AI is controlling your bias. It is seeing how long you look at a post about a certain topic or like a photo on Instagram. It is taking all this data, studying you and then showing your posts that relate to these topics. Kind of scary, but it is our reality.
AI is so impactful in our lives today. I expect us to be way more advanced than this in the next 5 years. You may be scanning articles with AI special contacts or all our cars may be self-driving. Next time you sit down after a long day, think of all the different ways or industries you came in contact that use AI regularly.
