Fox School of Business

Undergraduate Coursework

Information Systems in Organizations

This was the first class I’ve taken in relation to the MIS program. I did not have any expectations going into the class because I have no idea what it was about. I learned what Information Systems is and how important the role is in relation to the evolution of technology. This class was the reason why I switched from a chemistry major to MIS.

Data Analytics

Here, I learned about databases, which eventually led to learning SQL. Our class also worked a little with R; we used it to manipulate simple data sets. I also learned how important data analytics is in business, and how every company needs someone with knowledge in this area to grow.

Data-Centric Application Development

In this class I learned about HTML, CSS, and PHP in an IDE, specifically NetBeans. I learned about cookies and how to connect SQL databases with a website.

Digital Design and Innovation Studio

This class is learning about the role of a BA, and understanding how projects are made. My class worked with a client that needed help to make a couple of things. My group and I made an interface using JustInMind, a web development program, that allowed admins and users to use and interact with each other.

Application Integration and Evalutation

This class is built on the previous coding class. This time, the course now adds JavaScript to make websites more interactive.

Data Science

This class was a free elective. Here, I learned how to use Tableau and how to analyze and interpret data into useful information. My group and I used the program to analyze a data set about how Temple University stacks up against other schools in the surrounding areas.

Lead Global Digital Projects

In this class, I learned how to be a project manager. My group and I acted as PMs for the BA class that was talked about earlier. I loved this class because I was able to see and understand all the perspectives of the BAs, professors, and company stakeholders. Below is our project:

ARI Project

Information System Integration

This was the last class of the MIS program. Here, I learned about cyber-security and used Kali Linux to hack into an IP server. My group and I was assigned a project where we documented how we hacked into the server and how we could improve on the issues. Here is a copy of our project:
