It depends on the content that you are researching in which determines the best source to find quality content. My go-to is always LinkedIn. Your newsfeed, groups and following influencers always provides the high trending topics for staying in-the-know.
Also for Twitter, I still create lists. The lists are based on hashtags or topics in which…[Read more]

I can totally relate to this post Bob! I am quite the opposite where I have over 200 apps on my phone and I have a constant battle if I should use my browser or get a desktop app. When the commercial/ad came out “there’s an app for that,” it made my heart sing. With my browser being crowded with tabs and tasks, having apps allows me to focus on a…[Read more]

This also makes me think of the opportunity to streamline the MLS. As someone who moves a lot for work, it would be awesome to have direct visibility to all properties based on criteria rather than location. I can search for a 3 bedroom townhouse across the US or in a specific region if the technology enabled a consolidated database. It could…[Read more]

The music industry has changed drastically and there has been a trend or even push for artist to be more in control as you stated. You bring up a good point here with innovation coming into the trucking industry. Dispatchers hold a lot of power and truck drives rely on them to get work. Their routes, paperwork, GPS tracking, etc can typically be all provided by the dispatcher. I wonder how new technology would not only impact the drivers but the industry operations.
It…[Read more]

Great post. Infant mortality rates are also part of this equation and are rising. It’s amazing to think we live in the richest country in the world but have this problem. I love the idea of using wearables and telemedicine more. I’d like to see wearable data get transferred daily into a patients EMR (electronic medical records), then the physician could easily see how someone is doing: is the patient’s heart rate climbing each day, is blood pressure out of balance, how much is the patient sleeping – maybe this data can help a physician see an issue becomes they become a statistic?

Great headline Kellen! It caught my attention and I really enjoyed reading everyone’s comments. WOW! I would have never guessed that “other” streaming services would surpass the most popular ones. As a marketer, this is something to think about. This is really cool! I would trust AI to diagnose a non-threatening skin condition. Mostly because of speed rather than scheduling an appointment two weeks out to get into the doctor’s office. However, I would like the AI to tell me if it doesn’t look benign and I need to go see a doctor.

Taryne, great points about automation and efficiency. While it does offer efficiency for some, I feel there’s always a trade-off somewhere along the way. Thinking of my own personal experiences at my job, I can think of a few examples. For example, our company uses concur for travel and expense reporting. There was a time the travel department helped employees with travel/expenses. So, adding concur to the mix helps the travel department become more efficient for certain because it puts a majority of the tasks on the employee. In my case, I don’t travel or expense very often so when I do use the system, I almost feel like I’m using it for the first time each time. While a system like concur, no doubt provides a great benefit to companies, I also feel like it adds a little bit of the burden on someone else.

Taren,
Great comments on using Concur technology to work more efficiently. I have been working in higher education for more than 17 years now, I have yet to see this type of solution for travel. I will certainly be bringing this forward in my current position. We have finally figured out how to train in mass for travel, but the documentation is still using a duplicate paper form – the time cost has to be significant. The other part of your post that stood out was the quote “empower the individual to do work more efficiently, not take their job away”. This is a big fear in industries that are moving to automation. However, in many of these industries (manufacturing as an example), they can’t find a workforce to do the job so they are forced into automation to effectively use the shortage of workforce that they do have.
