This is awesome Jill. Very insightful and thoughtful. When you mentioned that the ocean covers 70% of earth but only 20% of the ocean is mapped, that leaves a lot of opportunity to incorporate data collection. What data could be collected outside of temperature and decompression that relate to our classes. I am not a scuba diver or have any…[Read more]

I had no idea planned obsolescence was a real thing. I thought it was all in my head that when a new Apple announcement happens that my devices start breaking down. Is this a bad thing or a really good marketing strategy? Either way, they get me every time to where I am the Apply junkie running to the store for a new device.
Thinking about…[Read more]

I agree with Ang as I am surprised it only took 6 months to completely shutdown. I would have suspected they would rebrand or be bought out by someone. I think the miss here is the lack of truly understanding their persona and what they were needing in the mobile space. I do not think the concept of Quibi is totally wrong, the branding and…[Read more]

I would agree that Personas are a useful and essential tool. When starting to develop a campaign, I start with the metrics and current behaviors of the existing customers/followers/etc. From there, we identify the target market and relate it to an existing persona or create a new one. The key is building a story. We can list a bunch of…[Read more]

I am very skeptical about doing grocery delivery including Amazon Fresh. I enjoy grocery shopping and so many times I have been there I leave with more than I thought I would. The eliminate of finding sales and going through clearance as well as changing my mind about what I am cooking to get different ingredients all comes with the terriority of…[Read more]

I am glad to read that you are an apple junkie like me. I like to say I drink “the apple juice.” When hearing about the new Apple Event, I immediately thought, “oh God, what now! I just brought my new phone.” HAHA., Good old Apple, just a marketing genius that knows how to make you empty your pockets.
Thank you for the insight to the updates. I…[Read more]

Agile culture is so important in today’s MarTech world with marketing being an even bigger part of not just the organization but to IT projects. I think of Agile as “never stop learning.” There is always something to improve, something to fix, something to release and it is continuous while the project is still functional.
Website would take a…[Read more]

Hi Taryne! You took me back to TLC JAM! (I had to play the song just because lol!)
I agree with you, that both methods can be effective given the right environment. The project requirements need to be clearly defined and with COVID-19 hitting the world as hard as it has, there’s no way companies can stick solely to the waterfall method. I have a feeling agility, flexibility, and speed are going to be the name of the game going forward.

Awesome post, Taryne. Love the title!!
I will admit I have been working with a blend of traditional Project Management Waterfall techniques and Agile for most of my career and never realized it had a name! From learning the Waterfall and Agile methods and reading the case – it actually only makes sense to me that all projects would be best managed with a blend of both. There is something to be said for managing one part to the next but business moves too fast to be anything but Agile.
