I, too, am curious to see how they will do in not just attracting an older demographic, but keeping the younger users engaged at the same time. I remember hearing when the older audiences started to use Facebook that the younger generations ran to other apps for merely messaging and not posting openly to all followers. Every time I see my aunts,…[Read more]

This is a great branch for Airbnb and as everyone has pointed out, it makes sense. I, too, am curious to see how much they will encroach on other reservation companies like OpenTable, Yelp, Reserve, Nowait, Spotluck, and Allset. I’ve used Nowait here in Charlotte, several times based on the recommendation of the restaurant. I didn’t like it enough…[Read more]

Good topic, Terek. I may not be directly involved in this, but it’s good to know what to look out for when building and using apps. Also, great point, Michael. The company could end up dumping more time and money into similar apps and projects with incorrect analytics. All good things to think about.

Do you have a business or work for one? If so, you should know about Chatbots.
First, let’s cover the basics for those who don’t know much about them.

Oh my gosh! I’m writing an article on AI that uses this example. How funny! Also, so sad that someone has to go through the same experience of sharing their nude self with strangers while trying to remove nudes from the eyes of strangers. I foresee some legal issues, like Lauren mentioned.

I think the movements have to evolve to stay relevant. Once the #MeToo push has died down, they will need something new and attention-worthy to keep up the momentum (like #MeAt14).
I think this is a great movement, but with the little attention span we have, the public will sadly move onto the next thing. Unless, of course, they can continue…[Read more] -

This is wild to me. I don’t have children, but I’m pretty sure I would veer away from the wild west of YouTube. I pull up YouTube videos for my dogs to watch during the day so they don’t hear all the commotion from the surrounding apartments. I try to stick with a few reputable dog calming sound channels, but once in awhile, I’ll come home to…[Read more]

Facebook knows we’ve been talking about VR. So, thinking I’m interested in VR technology, I was fed some VR technology ads in my feed. The one that really caught my eye was the Matterport video showing the camera. […]

I agree with Daniel. At the end of the day, it has to be a good show. No matter how much you drum up excitement, word travels fast and if something isn’t worth watching, people will decide that quickly. I’ve always wondered if it would work to push out new content beyond the first few weeks of a binge-worthy show or add mini shows/shorts between…[Read more]

A friend and I were trying to figure out if there was a way to easily do a side-by-side photo vote on social media. We couldn’t find a way to keep the audience on the same page/screen and be able to do a quick vote without having to visit another page/app. This is perfect!
Her use: She is newer to business commentating on a local news program.…[Read more] -

We needed an overhaul of our policies. As I was researching, I ran across a f […]

This is fantastic. It’s so annoying in Charlotte when we want something specific but we have to track down the restaurant through multiple apps or websites to find who will deliver and what the charges are. I wonder if Facebook is charging the restaurants or delivery companies extra to offer this on their platform.

Sadly, SnapChat crashes my iPhone 6s quite often nowadays and when it wasn’t doing that it was killing my battery. I’d be interested to see if they plan to make it less battery intensive. Especially, if they add videos and possible interactions and filters with the videos.

I was thinking the same thing about how different vertical videography is going to be. We’re so used to videos with peripheral views that this is going to be interesting. Who knows, it may become the norm one day!

I think the biggest question you asked is, “…are brands responsible for the actions others take as a result of things they say or do on social media?” As someone who manages my company’s social media, I think about this every day with every post I curate. I’ve learned that people jump on posts, even when they are more opinion-based than…[Read more]
