We’ve all heard it: less is more. When it comes to your website content, your toothpaste, and even your aftershave. Less is always more. But does that apply to mobile content?
Absolutely. Think of the […]

Hey Chris –
I think you should definitely have time dedicated to social listening, but if you’re a smaller brand (like the one I work for), there wouldn’t be much to listen to. Larger brands, like you suggested, would definitely need someone on their social media marketing team JUST for strategic listening.
Thanks.

Hey Amelia – Thanks for sharing. I think this is definitely a blast from the past. The fact that Samsung, a leader in the technological realm has decided to move forward with the development of a foldable phone is so wildly strange. I think sometimes companies try so hard to be different that their initiatives become irrelevant. We all know the…[Read more]

Hey! Thanks for sharing this. First off, let’s talk about PWA’s! I’ve never, ever, ever, ever heard of a PWA and am so fascinated that it’s a “thing.” I couldn’t imagine in a million years that there would be a step between mobile app and regular web page. I mean, isn’t that was iPad functionality is for? I thought this article in and of itself…[Read more]

Hey Angi, thanks for sharing! I think these social apps adding “stickers” and “filters” around voting although important, is boring and that aspect is over-saturated. The Snap Map of places you can get out to vote is brilliant! I think it’s a small win for Snapchat as they have been struggling for a while, especially after the Kylie Jenner fiasco.…[Read more]

Emily- thanks for sharing this. When I first started managing social media and writing social media posts for my first marketing gig, I too thought it was redundant to add an extra link. I was made aware that we should double-post the link just for those who weren’t social-savvy and knew the image/lower text area was clickable. It also has become…[Read more]

Hi Nick –
Thanks for sharing. I want to take a stab at your 3rd question as data relates to social media. I think the most interesting thing I’ve heard of correlated to social media is the amount of people that are still using and trusting in Facebook to protect their data/information. I was so surprised that the amount of people that…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing this. I have never seen the location based Halloween ads but am now wishing I had! Maybe I love the fact that celebrities were engaging with each other over positive movements with women in the acting realm. In terms of location-based marketing, I think it’s so clever and extremely engaging because it allows each city to get a…[Read more]

Megan – I am so glad you covered this! I wondered the same thing for so long and then I started to get emojis in my email subject lines and was taken aback. I think it’s a very strategic move for more fun-loving, millennial-targeted brands, but for brands like mine (which is healthcare), I think they cannot be used unless they’re hyper-focused…[Read more]

Jen thanks for sharing this post, it came right on time! I took to Twitter as well to see what people were saying about the ad, but missed the promoted hashtag – nice find! I did watch the “Quest” ad and thought it was very clever. It’s good to know George Clooney is still a brand ambassador, even many moons after the initial incident. I think…[Read more]

If there’s a crisis in your city, where do you go to find the most up-to-date information? In 2017, two-thirds of U.S. adults got their news from a social media platform. Social media has gr […]

Hey Megan,
Thanks for sharing. I knew this was going to go so viral that people from our class were going to write about it. I love the examples of the spoofs you’ve shown. I was a little taken aback by the text as I didn’t know it was coming. I don’t think his intention was for it go to viral per-se, but instead for him to ensure his messages…[Read more]

Hey Nicoli! This is a really interesting post and I sometimes think about this myself as a new photographer but my marketing background won’t let me do it! I think on the surface, purchasing followers seems like a great idea, you get your numbers up immediately and then you kick off the search for an engaging following-base. Another major issue…[Read more]

Hey Nick –
Thanks for sharing this. I would tell your social media students that social media positions within companies don’t just consist of posting to social media all day. There is a lot of strategy and development behind social media management. I would also stress that the social media content should be constructed around important…[Read more]
