Gabby,
I think using this tool as a way of on-boarding new employees is a great idea! Not only does it give them a sense of how the office is formatted but it offers an environment that is different and interactive. Many times, work from home can be very repetitive because you don’t have the same type of social interactions. This is a great was…[Read more]

Andrew,
Very interesting post. To me, movies recently just haven’t had any appeal (with the exception to some). By allowing AI to detect which actors or directors we should use, is only going to further my opinion as there isn’t any change. AI takes the creativity out an inherently extremely creative industry.

Gabby,
Lets get this implemented now! I have noticed that traffic still hasn’t gotten back to what it used to be pre=pandemic; however, that doesn’t mean it isn’t coming. I definitely think that if there was a way you could prove to commuters that their average travel time via driving was noticeably less, people would start to drive rather than…[Read more]

Krupa,
I love my Apple Watch. I think the information it gives me is so fascinating so I let it trach everything. I really only see a downside in not allowing it to track all my information. Also, I definitely think technology will improve our healthcare system. I believe that it would be very helpful for first responders and EMTs to have…[Read more]

Brandyn,
Great read. I think your idea of an IoT thermometer would definitely be helpful to farmers. There is a company called Aerofarms, they are known for their hydroponic vertical farming technique. They have large warehouses that are more productive than the average farm of 50 acres. Their advancements using IoT in their farming techniques…[Read more]

Morgan,
Without a doubt. My parents had no problem selling their house during the pandemic but did have some trouble finding a new home to move to! They are currently in the process of renovations to their new house but are having trouble finding affordable builders since lumber is so expensive right now as a result of the popularity of home…[Read more]

Hi Kristen,
Would love for there to be a day when IoT is fully integrated into all of our grocery stores. I know Amazon has been working on a grocery store similar to what you described with smart shelves and smart carts, eliminating the need for checkout all together. The smart carts and smart shelves both detect what you are buying and add it…[Read more]

Hi Sarah,
Enjoyed reading your post. Personally, I like to workout in a gym because I enjoy the company of the people around me. However, I definitely could see myself moving towards fitness tech as I grow older. As for the industry itself, I definitely think its only going to get bigger. As you said, gym’s are starting to figure out ways to…[Read more]

Hi Morgan,
As a cable cutter myself, I have been (for the most part) satisfied with streaming in terms of savings on a monthly basis. To me, the money I have saved on switching to a streamed version of cable has outweighed the benefits of the quality of service you get from a cable provider. With that being said, I do not see cable going…[Read more]

Ryan,
This is really a brilliant idea! I think it could be useful for many types of infrastructure. A small pedestrian bridge collapsed over a highway heading into the city near where I live collapsed a few months. I believe about 5 people were injured and without access to the other side, it left people living in low income communities who relied on that bridge to walk to the store to get essentials without access to it. It was a major issue! An IoT motion detection similar to what you mentioned could have surely been of great use here.

Hi Ryan,
Great explanation of how IoT sensors placed in buildings could be life saving. I think it would be a good idea to start pushing for more of these in all buildings and even requiring it in new buildings or ones that are a little older. There are already so many codes that make sure buildings and other structures are safe, so why not something as simple as a monitor for structural integrity. I know something like this must not be cheap, but neither is repairing a broken building or the price of a life.
As I was reading through I started to hope that the sensor could notify residents of a possibly unsafe building. Happily, you informed me that the technology does exist to alert residents and that it is available. That kind of data on a building does not seem like something that many property managers would want to share. I hope that more start to see the benefit of it before more lives are lost.
