Lauren Moreno wrote a new post, UGC and Curated Content, on the site Lauren Moreno 6 years, 4 months ago
Curated content is like the New Yorker article you share with a friend because you just know she’ll love it. In a way, this act of sharing and redistributing content is building your personal brand– after all, you […]

Hi Holly, Thanks for sharing. I think this is a really great idea and something that is definitely needed in e-commerce. From a consumer’s point of view, reviews make it SO MUCH easier to make a decision online, and that is invaluable. If we think about the cart abandonment rate (it’s about 98%), any opportunity to stop the customer from clicking…[Read more]

There are conflicting view points on the best way to monetize your social channels. One school of thought believes that ‘selling’ stands to alienate your audiences and consequently lose reach. The other […]

Alison- I had a similar thought when I went to watch the first debate a couple weeks ago.
It was about a year ago that we decided to cut the cord at our house, and I remember how much we struggled to watch live events. We had to do research ahead of time so that when the debate came on, we knew we would have access.
Fast forward to this…[Read more]

Very interesting post, Kimberly. Sometimes simplicity is more effective than doing too much, and Obsessee seems to be an organization that exemplifies that. I’m interested to see how what direction they go down the road. They could very well be the trendsetter for social media innovation.

Lauren, this is so interesting. I feel like not having a website definitely aligns with their strategy and meets the needs of their target audience. It seems like they definitely did their research before choosing this plan and it’s paying off. I hope that they don’t end up eventually caving and remain true to their brand.

Such an interesting idea. I just have so much trouble imagining not having a website. The community of fans, followers and contributors would be immense, but there’s still the thought that I should be able to click through on that item on Pinterest and make a purchase. I’ll be interested to see where they go from here on this, and how they monetize these social channels. Thanks for sharing!

Gennie-
Great Post! We recently connected facebook messenger to our retail site and the results have been fascinating. We are getting to interact with customers while they are shopping, answer questions that pop up and identify pain points on our site in real time. And customers definitely see messenger as their preferred way of contacting our…[Read more] -

Kimberly,
I have seen ads for Virginia Beach after the season is over too… and I agree that the campaign is really great. (I’m someone who loves going to the beach in the off-season). It is such a disappointment that this post didn’t capitalize on the moment to engage with you by using a relevant headline.
In my experience, this happens from…[Read more] -

Braden,
I agree with you that these posts are all interesting even if you do not have kids. Back to School is increasingly the start of the holiday shopping season for retail– summer is slow and August/September marks an upturn in shopping that doesn’t slow down until January.
For this reason, It makes sense that brands are embracing the ‘…[Read more] -

Love this, Lauren. And it’s so true. That content has to be good to get customers to take action. I actually was swayed into purchasing a product from a content piece just last week. Popsugar did an article titled “I Literally Just Found the Most Comfortable Pants Ever, and You Won’t Believe What They Are.” How could I not check that out? Skinny jeans that aren’t skinny jeans? Yes, please. Great content and well placed to earn a visit to the website.
