Hey Justin, fantastic post.
I thought the same recently and agree, a laser focused assessment of each arrangement discussed here is imperative for success. It can be said that Business Requirements are foundational because well developed BRD’s illustrate the vision, which identifies a specific problem or need that must be addressed through the project, as all this relates directly to user specific needs or problems solved in the initial project (or product) development phase – this ‘need’ steers the project, which should manifest itself in the business requirement. Thus functional requirements are the comprehensive lists of measures that will be taken to execute this very vision.

Could not agree more, Jeremy. The customer journey is always interesting to see once it’s worked out and visualized. More often it’s a non-linear experience where in order to truly grasp, understand, and add value the proper research must be done. As the article “using customer journey maps to improve customer experience” said Uncovering the…[Read more]

Thanks Amanda, exactly. Technology just can’t be only solution to all of our problems, the human touch aka fundamental problems that need fundamental solutions will always be prevalent no matter how sophisticated technology becomes. This is a truly interesting post, Justin. It’s certainly something to think about with self-driving cars, AI home devices that can turn on the lights in the house, and much more. I think we the “needs” of humanity switching to machines performing most of our daily activities, having a human-centered approach from the start is a necessity. Although I do believe that scientists and obviously engineers should be a part of the process, designers and people who know the reasoning behind the idea are also necessary. This technology and these gadgets will only mean so much if not created for the right issue or purpose.

Good case and point, Kat. Yikes, looks like the ball was dropped in a major way here. Perhaps expectations weren’t set at the beginning with Accenture and Hertz. The service level agreement (SLA) between the two companies should have had explicit language outlining the responsive design request, data security guarantees, coding, as well as the…[Read more]

As Holly noted above I’m a music lover as well. I’ve always paid attention to who’s album is at the top of Billboard and how many albums have been sold to date. Nice post Matthew. I find this very interesting. I think it’s all centered around content. Original and non-original content. Whomever has the best content will prevail as far as the number of customers in my opinion. I think Disney has so much content that they will become a quick favorite. In the next 5 years I think they may rival Netflix.…[Read more]
