That’s the thing, Kathryn, We can’t keep up! Its ridiculous that there are 103+ social apps even on the market. And maybe I am limiting my thoughts to only the US audience. If this topic is considering other country markets, then I can understand why there are so many. However, you bring up a good point, would it be possible for all platforms to…[Read more]

Ok, Sean. I will give you the Pumpkin corn, but that is far as I would go. This is just all sorts of wrong. Each of the candies aside from green looks like rotting teeth. And the flavor profiles, it reminds me of another candy as a kid that tasted like crap… literally. The one that comes to mind is the “Jelly Belly Bean Boozled”, its flavors are…[Read more]

Hahaha! Danny, I totally thought the same thing about my parents. But I think that the name is too far left field in the VR world. I think they could have come up with an umbrella company name that doesn’t pigeonhole them into a company that is striving to make “Ready Player One” a reality! I don’t want to live in that type of a world. I…[Read more]

I am all for someone’s own opinion of vaccination. I choose to be vaccinated as it allows me to travel more freely and not live in fear, so kudos to him for standing his ground on why he doesn’t get vaccinated. With regards to how one person (non-political) can affect things like the market; We saw something similar with Elon Mush and bitcoin. One…[Read more]

I think this is brilliant. I have subconsciously fallen away from many of the social media platforms because of the algorithm gets me captured in this rabbit hole that I didn’t want to go down. And good for them in recognizing they don’t want to be part of the problem. However, I think there is still an opportunity to have influencers on other…[Read more]

Interesting, I have used Semrush for so many years and didn’t realize it allowed you to publish your social posts from its platform. I guess I have always focused on just the keyword search results, content competition reports, traffic, etc. I would say from a content posting standpoint I think Hootsuite is more advanced and I would definitely use…[Read more]

Wow this is a great topic because not too long ago I was part of a conversation that discussed how cool it would be if you could purchase all the materials necessary to complete a DIY project that you saw on Pinterest. If PayPal provided the platform for transactions to take place and you could order materials from a local supported hardware store…[Read more]

The biggest problem with apps today is that the creators are not taking the proper amount of time to QA the product and have live test subjects use their app to confirm its usability. They are only thinking from their mindset and if they feel they can easily navigate (remember, they know where everything is) then it’s good to go. I have found this…[Read more]

I’ll be honest, my first thought was, how does a robot order taker result in more data retained? Isn’t the live person behind the call punching in the order the same way as a robot would, then sending it to the kitchen? And like the others have said the accuracy of 85% is pretty low and will only cause other issues that can again slow down the…[Read more]

I do work for a large company (~7,000 employees globally) but we only have a few apps (well, in the US at least). These apps are mostly for the patient audience to either gain awareness about Sleep Apnea or to get daily updates on how they are tracking on their therapy devices. Recently I was approached to think about creating an app for our sales…[Read more]

Come on Sean, You know those cornfields have some type of military tech hidden underneath! LOL
Although I’m not much into games, I can totally see how this can trigger an increase in sales especially if they offer the option for users to customize the Jeep with legitimate upgrades that a dealership would offer.I often think about the…[Read more]

Such a great conversation thread here! I must be a little behind the times because I thought the new features were quite creative. I guess it just means that I don’t use Airbnb much. One thought I had was that now these unique rental options are much easier to find, they can become much more expensive to rent. Many people would love to have a…[Read more]

Katheryn, I totally agree with your comment on the possibility that a platform could lose its audience or advertisers because of the overzealous banning of creators. Do you think this is because of the origin of this social app? Does Tick Tok actually have defined values that makes it different from any other social platform that also has trolls…[Read more]

As a marketer that’s ONLY worked in to the B2B market, I feel your pain. They say that 91% of all businesses exist on social media- and making yourself a unique space where it is already crowded other businesses (and some with more money and staff than yours). Just a blanket social media blast has absolutely no purpose, as most B2B marketing needs to happen with a decision maker. There’s only a few within a company (and more often than not just 1), and trying to hone in on this can’t be done with a large budget and a blanket approach.
Like you’ve suggested, I think they best way to supplement your brand is through industry awareness. But this doesn’t just mean being the best in the space or having the most followers, but truly sharing and giving industry news that is valuable to the decision maker while they are in their discovery journey still.
I think it’s something that a lot of marketers struggle in the B2B space. Thanks Joel!

Health care and pharma companies have a special rule of thumb regarding social media and marketing. I can see how your company focuses on awareness vs. promoting a single product. However, the legal regulations, privacy concerns, and risks make it more difficult for many health care organizations. The best use of getting ROI is grouping each platform by purpose serving functions such as social networking (Facebook, Twitter), professional networking (LinkedIn), media sharing (YouTube, Flickr), content production (blogs [Tumblr, Blogger], and knowledge/information aggregation (Wikipedia). In your industry, HCPs can easily connect via “general purpose” online social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Tweets can also include “hashtags,” a form of information indexing that allows people to search for tweets related to a particular discussion or topic that should spark marketing tactics between other businesses.

Joel I have been thinking about this topic a lot lately too and I am facing the same challenges when it comes to creating B2B social media strategies. I think you may find this helpful:

It talks a little about focusing in other metrics that may be even more impactful than ROI, it may give you a different perspective on how your campaigns are providing value to your organization.

I have only used Reddit a few times in it’s existence. It just never called to me as a platform. However, I have always appreciated the user driven content and how “Independent” the brand has been over the years. If they go public I would assume they might start pushing for a strategy to reach a greater audience. Buy how does a brand, that offers…[Read more]

I’m amazed at their mindset to output a creative commercial that connects emotions of giving/receiving with love, life, childhood. I can see why they have been a forefront of commercials in UK for some time. It also reminds me of Apple, only in the sense that they can run a complete commercial without showing or mentioning the product and you know…[Read more]
