I think you raise a good point, and I have certainly experienced process overload a lot in my organization.
Process doesn’t come naturally to most of the people on my team, but working in chaos can be very stressful, so we’re working on it….One issue I see that causes process overload is not solving the right problem. Someone identifies an issue and instead of getting to the root cause, they band-aid it with an additional process– or step in a process. This can easily turn a simple process into an unwieldy and inefficient one.
This has major implications: too much process can bog teams down and keep them from meeting objectives and being innovative.
