Great post, Nate! This is very interesting; I like how easily measurable the KPI”s of this campaign seem to be. I think that Southern California was a great place to roll this out, because – in response to Greg’s comment above – a lot of people here navigate even when they are familiar with the route. Traffic congestion is a true epidemic here,…[Read more]

When I think of Coachella, or almost any major music festival for that matter, I immediately think of social media. I think it was smart that they leaned in to social media opportunities to support its events. It seems that brands themselves acknowledge the tremendous opportunity presented at Coachella.
For instance, Childish Gambino was randomly AirDropping pictures of his Adidas collaborated shoes to festival-goers. Whoever received and accepted it, also received a free pair of them!

Good points, Greg! I think the portability aspect of mobile is what powers Fitbit’s experience for me. I think if there is one device that I ALWAYS have on me, it’s my cell phone. Having my phone with me every time I eat a meal or snack makes it easy to track my nutrition in a way that would be more cumbersome and much less convenient on a…[Read more]

Great post Emily!
It’s really interesting to me that you take so much value in the content and community around their products, but so little from the product itself. As a glorified sensor, I all but assume Fitbit’s days were numbered once the handsets began building step-tracking/HR monitors and the like into the devices. I never thought of Fitbit as a health platform or publisher.
Given how crucial being “connected” to your body it is to track your health, would the content/community suffer if you chose to participate from a tablet or desktop? What about mobile powers this experience for you?

Having my phone with me every time I eat a meal or snack makes it easy to track my nutrition in a way that would be more cumbersome and much less convenient on a tablet or desktop. In addition, meal tracking is not something that is available through the Fitbit device itself, making a mobile device necessary. With competitors like Apple and Samsung, I think it’s important that Fitbit maintains this space in mobile if they want to survive!

$45 is AN AWESOME rate!! I checked out this guy’s IG to see what I could calculate his engagement being, and came up with 0.4% on his five most recent posts. To do this, I usually calculate the average likes of the 5 most recent posts and divide that by the number of followers. I also take into account the quantity and content of comments on…[Read more]

I really enjoyed reading your perspective! I think that what you mentioned is true about influencer marketing being more successful when the consumer is consuming content from influencers that are involved in what interests them. It is definitely becoming a very saturated market, as you also mentioned. I am very curious to know more about the…[Read more]

First things first – bravo on this title. They should use #PediaLit as a campaign.
Also- this is a great example of the value of social listening to brands! Without social, they would have continued to market Pedialyte to parents for their kids, when really, they should just market to the parents for themselves. 🙂

Nice post, Cliff. I’d have to agree that I like using apps better, mostly for the in-app integrations (I’m a sucker for a good customer loyalty program). I think these types of feature are crucial to the success of a company. In fact, 60% of mobile coupon users say they will gladly switch brands if they can get an in-app discount/coupon. Also,…[Read more]

Interesting post, Kricket! I never knew about this app before your post, and would have used Google Maps by default. It’s certainly relevant to a city with as complex a metro system as New York. Out here in LA (where our public transportation honestly is terrible), one thing I can think of that’s comparable in terms of mobile is the Metro Bike…[Read more]

Hey Sarah! I love this post. I never even thought that deeply into the “slower route” options that Google Maps provides, so this really got me thinking!
