The music industry has changed drastically and there has been a trend or even push for artist to be more in control as you stated. I can see blockchain working for a company like Title where it is funded and created by the artist themselves. I would support a platform or currency provided by a company like Musicoin in sole effort to support the artist. Being that music is so readily available across multiple platforms, I think the true purpose of supporting the artist will be the driver. When Title came out, it was more expensive than other music streaming platforms. Title also provides exclusive content that the artist distribute to their audience.
This is a great concept and would love to follow it. Great post Ava!

Great post Ava! Funny you chose music to talk about with blockchain, I recently commented on Dan Ross’s post talking about how Spotify actually adapted blockchain technology for their streaming service.
Spotify acquires blockchain startup Mediachain to solve music’s attribution problem
I don’t see music streaming becoming completely blockchain, but I do see the benefits of adapting blockchain technology for some features or at least making licensing more beneficial to the artists themselves.

That’s an interesting point that there might no longer be traffic in the age of self-driving cars. While I do enjoy the manual exercise of driving, it really is terrifying to think of how dangerous it is. It’s easy to just imagine the end result, in which all cars are at level 5 automation, so thinking about the transition brings up a lot of…[Read more]

Ava Shije wrote a new post, Could mobile voting end gerrymandering?, on the site Digital Marketing MKTG 5604 Fall 2019 1 year, 6 months ago
Gerrymandering is a tactic used by governments to ensure that the existing political party remains in power. By redrawing voting districts, those in power can alter the results of democratic […]

Ava this is a very interesting topic you bring up. I think it has some great possibilities. Along with the issue of gerrymandering, voting online could also mitigate a lot of the reports (whether people think they are true or not) of voter intimidation at polling places. As well, the implications it could have for the elderly and disabled to have a voice by voting is a big plus. The only huge consideration I would think would be hacking. We know it’s been proven our online lives have been hacked into around times of voting. But with proper backup, it would be an interesting idea!

I find myself struggling with this all the time. I currently work for a local business and we do try to engage with customers through blog posts. It helps educate the consumer about the industry or product rather than just pushing sales at them. But with being a small business, multiple duties are usually stacked into one role making it hard to spend all this time finding the perfect audience or keyword. Luckily, there’s many sites (free ones too!) that can help out. Google Trends is very helpful when it comes to learning when seasonal trends are at there peak. Another great site is answerthepublic.com. They can give you A-Z all of your auto-filled Google searches surrounding a phrase. Lastly, semrush.com is great when trying to find those low competition keywords. I believe in their premium package, you can even get a rough estimate on how much a Google Ad CPC would be.

No one is reading all the fine print when they do something as simple as downloading an app. Is it worth it to wish for a more responsible app vetting process by app stores, or would this just slow innovation and entrepreneurship? What is the worst that the “Russian companies” can do with our data?

I agree that giving insurance companies more information could give them new reasons to not pay claims. The decay of privacy seems to provide more incentive to stay on the “right side of the law.” Similar concerns arise with health data. We have HIPPA in place to protect patient privacy with their physicians, and Fitbit supports HIPPA compliance…[Read more]

Hi Taryne, I’d like to learn more about your digital consultancy and how you fit in to the landscape. I’ve always been fascinated by HubSpot, but scared away by the big price tag. I might be looking into it again when I’m ready to grow my digital marketing agency.
