Ava Shije wrote a new post, Agile Marketing Kanban, on the site Process Improvement and Innovation MIS5102 Summer 2020 7 months, 1 week ago

Kanban has grown from its use by IT teams to include teams from several industries, including marketing. How can marketing teams be agile? Fears of missing deadlines of over-committing a single team member on any […]

This is an interesting question you raised at the end. I do think that the “talk less, smile more” could actually be good advice for a meeting facilitator. Maybe the facilitator could try to ask leading questions and provide a platform for each team members to be a “Hamilton”.

I like having processes in place for design. For example, creating an official style guide and making it available to everyone in an organization helps prevent the wrong logo version or font from being used. One thing I’ve run into though is a conflict in client priorities. For example, they might need a website yesterday, but their branding isn’t…[Read more]

Ava Shije wrote a new post, Making a Checklist for Content Research, on the site Process Improvement and Innovation MIS5102 Summer 2020 8 months, 2 weeks ago

Capturing processes in checklists is super helpful for both preventing mistakes (did I check the new webpage on mobile?) and freeing up the brain to be more creative. If I’m working through a checklist, I can feel […]

It depends on the content that you are researching in which determines the best source to find quality content. My go-to is always LinkedIn. Your newsfeed, groups and following influencers always provides the high trending topics for staying in-the-know.

Also for Twitter, I still create lists. The lists are based on hashtags or topics in which I can reference when I need content for a consistent topic. For example I have a fashion designer for a client that specializes in bridal. I have a bridal list on twitter to follow influencers, tv shows and local bridal shops that post great content to spark ideas for organic topics as well as reposting the existing content.

Ava, I suppose a tool such as suveymonkey, which is free, could be used in this case to ask people directly what they’re looking for through a survey. While this is not as broad as some of the other tools you listed, a survey could be constructed and posted on the client’s website or sent to their contacts through an email campaign. This could definitely help focus your content research to a targeted, specific audience.

Social media specifically refers to websites or apps that foster social interaction online. They’re also called “social media channels”, “social media platforms” or “social networks”. Some examples are:

This slide caught my attention last week. I’ve heard that strong emotions like fear help advertisements stick in people’s minds, but what about the feeling of relaxation?

Some apps, like Calm, are a […]

I am so ready for high-speed travel!! I do have a preference for cheaper travel, however, so I’m hoping that better travel infrastructure will make all travel less expensive.

For me, they’re two different services. Netflix gives you the ability to kick back and watch the same series uninterrupted. Youtube is much more active. I go there to learn something specific for 5 minutes.

Great information! I’m trying to promote early detection and preventative health through the Premier Cancer Alliance https://premierdiagnostic.com/premier-cancer-alliance/

I’m excited to see blood tests become better at detecting disease. I’m also going to look into your examples of AI in healthcare. Thank you!

It would have been cool to get in on those initial years of mining. I found this graphic explanation of blockchain that I really like. It gave me some more insight into the process and filled in a few blanks for me: http://graphics.reuters.com/TECHNOLOGY-BLOCKCHAIN/010070P11GN/index.html

Great idea! I wrote a post about “wicked problems” in voting, like gerrymandering. Would the people who are trying to hold on to power approve innovations for voting, or would they want to hold on to old systems? Approving new voting innovations could lead to other improvements that might give them less control in the future.

Thanks, Daniel, I watched the video. At first I discounted that number as spammy, until I realized he was talking about targeting the content and only showing certain posts to certain people. Definitely a mind shift.

Wow, I never thought about how Blockbuster totally could have transitioned to become a streaming platform. Instead they focused on the brick and mortar expansion and left room for DVD delivery and eventually streaming. If Blockbuster had been on the cutting edge, they might have retained their customer base. In the phase where Netflix was…[Read more]
