Great post Sara! Mine sounds awesome and is something I would be interested in using. Today’s privacy policy’s are insufficient. There are too many loop holes which is why I feel there just there to cover brands’ liability. I took a look at Mine’s website and really liked their explanation of why they started the company:
“We appreciate the…[Read more]

Instagram ads for sure are more noticeable to me. I find myself scrolling past and ignoring the ads on Facebook. I think a big part of it is that I am drawn more toward strong visual ads rather than ads with written content.

Christina, I also don’t mind having my data used for commercial purposes. If its going to create a better customer experience for me, . I use Pinterest a ton for house decor inspo and party planning ideas. I’m currently in the process of planning my moms birthday party and the “ad suggestions” have been pretty useful. I was looking into making s…[Read more]

It is a surprise that Quibi is completely shutting down after only 6 months but It does make sense that people wouldn’t be able to resonate with their content during this pandemic. I do not watch much from my mobile device, i’d rather watch movies/shows on my laptop or TV, so I was never really attracted to the app. I figured if I was to watch…[Read more]

Greg- I agree with you that choice is the key ingredient in strategy. The options/choices my team has for “What the Fridge” seem limitless but we do not want to stray away from our original goal for that app. It is sometimes hard not to get wrapped up in all the different features we could utilize. Losing or straying away from our main vision can…[Read more]

Thanks Rachael! I use to get super frustrated having to try to free up space on my phone, especially if I was editing photos on my iPhones’s Lightroom app. I haven’t used Google photos too much but I will be looking into it now!

I am definitely taking more photos! Which is great because in the past I would have to sort of sift through all photos determining which were good and which weren’t going to make the cut after the photo shoot. It was always about 50/50. Now that I’m able to view them in real time through Snapbridge/Lightroom, there are a ton more photos that I can…[Read more]

It was always about 50/50. Now that I’m able to view them in real time through Snapbridge/Lightroom, there are a ton more photos that I can work with. If I notice that some of the photos aren’t turning out as I would’ve hoped, I still have the time to be able to switch up my game plan and take more photos.

Hey – this is awesome. I’ve wanted to get back into photography and playing with the idea of taking some classes next year. I’m downloading snapbridge right now- thank you!

Ang, this is great! I’m a photography fanatic myself and have used an app similar to Snapbridge. I prefer to shoot using Canon, and when I do, I utilize Canon’s “Camera Connect” app. Like Snapbridge, you can shoot remotely and transfer images from the camera to your device using WiFi and Bluetooth technology.
Definitely going to look into Snapbridge though! It seems easier to work with, especially when transferring photos to your computer for post-production editing.

Great app find Ang! While I’m not a photographer by trade like you, I do take an excessive amount of photos while on vacation, traveling for work, or down the shore each summer. Before the google photos app existed, I would get beyond frustrated when I would need to delete photos off my phone because of the lack of storage space. Google Photos has eliminated that frustration and also provides a great interface for searching by location, people & time. This search functionality makes finding a specific photo so easy and quick.

Has anyone have any fun experiences with Google Photo’s (or any services) AI-driven sorting. It’s uncannily accurate purely on facial recognition. The single greatest obstacle to digital photos is having to organize them!
-
I’ve used Apple’s “Photos” app for finding images based on geolocation. For example, plumbers have been at my house saying, “what did you do here??” and I was able to quickly open Photos, select my house’s location, and then scroll through the year that the previous plumbing work took place to find the reference photo of my pump house.
For faces, Photos is not as accurate. I can click on a family member’s face to get a quick profile picture if I need it, but it’s only selecting a small percentage of the photos I have of that person. And then there are the random people who get tagged as you who you never realized that you resembled…
For photos that I really want to be able to find later, I either “favorite” them or add them to an album. For the vast majority of my photos, the experience is more like you described, Greg, when I run into the image file (usually while scrolling to find a different photo) it’s a random experience. For us content creators, the experience can be mixed with fun personal memories as well as work projects.
