I definitely don’t skip school nights. If I win on a Wednesday, I’m going. 😀
Hamilton’s app has made the lottery process easier than for other shows. Honestly, if you want a cheap ticket to any show that isn’t a huge hit, you’d normally go to the box offices for a rush ticket (these are generally people who didn’t pick up their tickets, or…[Read more]

I will also say: somehow their business accounts make an even bigger mess of orders, returns and accounting, so we are using an individual Prime account, shared across the theater.

I’ve had the same issue with size when using the AR previews. We tried it at the theater when looking at sofas for sets on Wayfair. But because our space is so huge, it can’t really scale it correctly, or even get close. While they really package AR as a convenient feature, it tends to make more problems in my world than it can fix. We just wind…[Read more]

I have a feeling the difference is that the $11 figure is probably coming from someone who is selling advertising space. I saw it repeated, but like anything on the internet, who know where it came from.
I hope you are right as well, that people will see less of the return they expect. #ad may not deter people from purchase, but the glut of…[Read more]

I really enjoyed reading your perspective! I think that what you mentioned is true about influencer marketing being more successful when the consumer is consuming content from influencers that are involved in what interests them. It is definitely becoming a very saturated market, as you also mentioned. I am very curious to know more about the stat that you included about beauty brands making $11 for every $1 spent on influencer marketing — the beauty brand that I work for has a goal of making a 3.0 ROI on all influencer spends (and that has been a tough goal to meet as of late). This could possibly be considering brand awareness efforts rather than just sales-driven initiatives. Maybe this is why many influencers that I talk to initially pitch rates that are about 5x (or more) what I would ever consider paying them. Others that I talk to that are in this industry or who use this type of marketing in their companies, think that the saturation will eventually lessen as rookie brands aren’t seeing the type of return that they expect, and start to abandon this strategy (I certainly hope this is the case for ALL of our sakes!). We’ll see what happens!

I hope you are right as well, that people will see less of the return they expect. #ad may not deter people from purchase, but the glut of influencer content is exhausting and at points for everyone, irrelevant. Plus the cultural backlash toward the idea of influencers is a factor. Remember they killed two of them in American Horror Story: Hotel? Then immediately regretted it when they were stuck with them forever? I’m more inclined to believe that influencers are a quirk of this moment of the development of the internet and social connection. Just like Facebook Games were.
When trying to set my cat’s account up as an influencer, I was getting such crappy offers that I abandoned the idea. And I’d have done it for free toys for that picky little fluffernutter. If you’ve got any leads on that…LMK.

Great Post Alyssa!
I am a big believer of customer loyalty in regards to mobile strategy, implementing efficient solutions to enhance user experience. IKEA should definitely optimize its App with push notifications, better rewards systems, using QR code scan, archiving past payment history on-app and of course taking advantage of the content derived from products in its brick and mortar. IKEA can most likely work out alignments with publishers, adding to the appeal of the user experience and look of the app by offering e-books or even coupons when downloading freebies or content, for the sake of customer retention. I am not a die-hard IKEA fan (no pun intended), but having poor search optimization with keywords like ‘ceiling fan’ via its data-bases in the U.S. or naming whole product lines after Swedish islands may work better in Asgard then the states. Continuity in content, marketing and measurement across all channels is key for a well established brands like IKEA – namely when loyal customers are having second thoughts, this will be a great missed opportunity for IKEA, especially in terms of customer lifelong value.

I’m also curious what tools people find useful. Right now, my company isn’t using anything, though I hear there’s a spreadsheet of post ideas, which doesn’t seem any more helpful than the 5 “can you put this on social media?” emails I get daily.

I got permission to buy the full thing for the office! I’d been looking forever at their ads, and i can say i love it as much as everyone (except marketing) hates Trello.
I’ll let you know how the switch goes. We’ve been doing all these manual processes for a long time, and breaking people out of that is difficult.

Ooh, I specifically upgraded my OS when they added the ability to text from a computer. I love it. Much more than I love messaging on my actual device. If I’m in a group text with you, I probably have it muted.
