Hi Holly, thanks for sharing! I collected box tops with my family. The decision to go digital must have been huge for Box Tops. It is a smart move as most children and their parents have access to a mobile phone or computer to log the Box Top. The app and the website make the Box Tops more accessible. You don’t have to cut out the tops, mail them,…[Read more]

Hi Kricket! I am a huge Chick Fil A fan. I have used the Chick Fil A One app and my meal is always ready by the time I arrive at the restaurant. One feature that may be helpful is the length of the line (not sure of the technicality that goes into this). This would help patrons time out when they want to place their order. If they plan on going…[Read more]

Hi Christine, thank you for sharing! It’s really awesome that companies are offering a “pause” feature. We spend so much time during the day looking at a screen. I actually use the time management feature on Instagram to limit my scrolling which has increased my productivity. It’s important that companies acknowledge how their products can affect…[Read more]

Hi Evelyn, you brought up a really good point. A lot of times teams are so wrapped up in their own tasking they forget what other teams/departments are working on or they don’t have a full understanding of what the other teams do. With lack of communication and/or understanding across departments an extra layer of complexity is added to the task.…[Read more]

Akasha Goins wrote a new post, Is RACI Relevant?, on the site Process Improvement and Innovation MIS5102 Summer 2019 3 years, 7 months ago
As we discussed in class, the RACI Chart is a matrix which assigns roles to people involved in completing a task or steps in a project or business process. There are roles related to tasks which can be completed […]

This is a great way to communicate the value associated with RACI Charts. It is a shame that the fellowship didn’t document their responsibilities accordingly. Sam would have had a nice collaboratively created tool to remind Frodo that Gollum/Smeagol was not a stakeholder/team member and has no role with their task..

Wow Katie, this is great. I am nearing my quarter life and hoping it doesn’t lead to crisis. When I think of data I quickly relate it to decision making, but this is a more “humane” way of using data. (maybe not the best adjective). After reading your post I realize we can use data to address social issues within our society. Sense of purpose and…[Read more]

Hi Damarah, those are some tough questions to answer. I think an initial phone screen should happen to review the applicant and their qualifications before a personality test happens. The test could produce bad data as not everyone interprets questions the same way. The potential employer could be missing out on quality candidates all because they…[Read more]

Hi Sarah, the STORY concept store seemed more interesting when it was a standalone store in NYC. I think being bought out by Macy’s super-department-store they are losing their true brand. I think you make a greta point Akasha. I don’t think this “STORY” experience is enough to bring people into their store. I’m actually a little confused on what it is exactly and why it would be worth the trip into Macy’s to experience it.
It takes more motivation to get me into a physical store, especially if it’s for clothing or gifts. For instance if I bought something online and wanted to return it, but would have to either pay to ship it back or return it to the store for free, then I’ll make the trek to the store. Once I’m in the store, I have a good time and try to enjoy myself, but honestly I’d rather just shop in the privacy of my home.
I think for bigger ticket items like home appliances, furniture and technology there’s more opportunity to leverage these experiences than the typical brick and mortar. I certainly don’t have the answer, but I’m interested in seeing the development over the next few years!

Great Article! I personally shop at Brick & Mortar stores because I like the idea of the face to face contact with employees. Also, being able to see the product I want to buy in person is a huge reason why I don’t do as much online shopping. I’m not sure how I feel about the store in store only deal but for the right audience this probably makes a lot of sense. Although for those who are Instagram fanatics they would most likely love this idea.

Awesome post! I haven’t heard about ‘STORY’ and it’s not something that will bring me into Macy’s. The only time I went to a store for a specific product offering was the Target x Lilly Pulizter collab that happened in store. Typically what brings me into a store is the experience. I’m sure most people will agree with me when I say that shopping at Target is a fun experince! For me, Macy’s is an overwhelming store so the addition of something else will make me go nuts!

As a music lover, I love Spotify over all the other ones. I’d say I was an early adopter and loved listing on my desktop in the early days and I am very grateful they kept up with the digital times with offering a mobile app and connecting to my Google Assistant. My 9 year old love asking Google to play a song! It will be interesting to see what the next wave is for music and if the music industry can change with it.
-
As Holly noted above I’m a music lover as well. I’ve always paid attention to who’s album is at the top of Billboard and how many albums have been sold to date. However with streaming its about how many streams now and how that equals out to sales. It’s fascinating to see a whole industry changed because of a new technology. I think I read something recently on how streaming more than double year to year, and how downloading numbers keeps dropping, as well as buying physical copies decreasing. It’s going to be interesting to see how streaming will continue to change the music industry. I like the idea of the artists having more power and not being taken advantage of by record labels.

Hi Holly, thank you for sharing! I never really thought about data related to food delivery. My roommate and I are guilty of using Uber Eats and GrubHub. Hi Jeremy! I think storytelling marketing is a great way to make consumers feel like are a part of the story. It strengthens the bond consumers have to brands and can help them understand why the brand exists. Hi Evelyn, thank you for sharing! I think companies and their recruiters would jump at the idea to screen out unlikely candidates.
