As I mentioned in a previous class post, I am a big Disney fan. Up until two years ago, I had no idea how much work goes into planning a Disney trip. After the planning is done, the tickets are bought and the FastPasses+ made, that is when real journey begins.
The My Disney Experience app, originally launched in 2012 and has received multiple updates since then. It was a game-changing tool for anyone visiting the parks. Today it has evolved and offers dozens of features that enhance guests’ experiences at all Disney properties (Brigante, 2012).
The app does include features that are available to anyone who visits the My Disney Experience website. These features include buying theme park tickets, managing resort reservations, and browsing restaurant menus. However, the app includes additional capabilities that make your Disney experience extra magical.
- Allow kids to Interact with parks through a gamification element called “Play Disney Parks”
- Preview, download, edit or share Disney Photopass photos
- Place mobile orders to save time and get back to having fun
The ways in which people plan trips to the Happiest Place on Earth is also changing. And while my dad still swears by the Birnbuam guide for planning Disney trips, I opted for a more digital approach. Recently, at the D23 Expo, it was announced Disney would be launching an artificial intelligence vacation planning tool.
What I appreciate most about Disney’s incorporation of technology and digital tools is that they add something extra, that little sprinkle of pixie dust, that helps bring your vacation to life. The app is extremely convenient and helpful in shaping your in-park experience. I am a big advocate and recommend it to anyone who visits WDW.
Have you ever used a digital tool or app that has made planning for a vacation easier? Do you see value in the My Disney Experience app?
