In 2009, I started my undergrad degree at Temple University where I studied Advertising- Account Management. During my Junior year, I landed my first internship at Philadelphia Magazine, as a circulation intern, very random, I know. After networking throughout the company, I found a woman that took me under her wing as my mentor, who I eventually interned for in the Advertising sales department the following semester. We always had great talks and I eventually found out that she used to work for Teen Vogue magazine at Conde Nast in New York City. Little did I know at the time, she would open many doors for me.
I expressed interest that I wanted to apply for the Teen Vogue summer internship program, and she immediately passed my resume along to her former colleagues. After one interview, I was chosen to be a part of Teen Vogue’s summer internship program in the marketing & special events department. This was a dream come true for me!
After my internship that summer in New York City, I came back to an internship at Nicole Miller Philadelphia, where I worked for a small fashion/PR agency at the Bellevue Philadelphia. We held fashion shows, worked with vendors in the Bellevue, and also hosted many networking events. This was another great experience as they let me run with their social media accounts and write press releases.
During this time, I was networking with a woman that I met during my summer at Conde Nast, an editor at Vogue magazine. She brought up the idea of doing a winter internship for a short amount of time on her team, and I just had to say yes! That following winter I spent my break packing up jewelry pieces to go on photoshoots with celebrities… a pinch me moment.
I came back to Temple and finished up my senior year just enjoying college. A week after graduating, I landed a temporary position at the Urban Outfitters HQ at the Naval Yard as a production coordinator. This wasn’t my dream job, so I was always looking for openings in the area. They say home is where the heart is, so I knew that Philadelphia was a place I wanted to pursue my job search. Suddenly, I came across a social media strategist role at QVC, and they chose me!
I’d say it’s been quite the journey thus far. When not taking Instagram pictures of products,
developing the social media strategy for Lori Greiner,
or traveling to different events,
my day includes writing social posts, uncovering new name purchases, analyzing data, developing strategies for brand launches, etc. The list goes on and on. I’m excited to see what the future holds for social media and marketing and I am very excited to be on this journey with all of you! I hope that we can learn from one another to uncover the next chapter in all of our careers!
