Bridging the Divide

July 20, 2016 By Keaton Batten Leave a Comment

When it comes to project management and marketing it seems to be worlds divided. Marketers are seen as creatives who come up with ideas on their own and are difficult to work with on large scale projects. However, as marketers enter the digital field, diving into analytics, web development, lead generation and more technical projects, project management becomes less of a foe. For digital marketing teams adopting the elements of effective project management can make the team run faster and benefit the organization on a higher scale. In an article by Convince & Convert they go through 11 ways to improve marketing through project management. These 11 improvements can be easily implemented through the use of web based tools such as Google Drive and Kapost.

Google Drive is an extremely useful tool for project management in the marketing sphere. It allows users to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations and forms for internal company use. You can then easily share your work with others, allowing for collaboration on a multitude of devices, allowing the entire marketing department to have visibility into current and future projects. In addition, programs such as Kapost allow you to manage projects on a timeline, creating a collaborative calendar for all users to see. Enabling the entre production workflow to be accessed online by any contributor.

Marketing Project ManagementBoth Google Drive and Kapost allow for marketing team leaders to monitor and control all active projects. Allowing the managers to make sure the teams are staying within the allotted time so that projects should be finished within each quarter. Because all project activity is being done online, there is always a digital trail, this allows the team to measure the projects impact on company goals, through looking at timeline, cost and performance.
