No matter the situation, this question arrises near the end of almost every journey. Currently, I’m getting ready to enter the final semester of the Digital Innovation in Marketing (DIM) masters program. But then what?
After I applied and decided to pursue this higher education degree, I began getting all the typical questions from family, friends, and coworkers:
- What are you going to do with that degree?
- Does that mean we won’t have money for Spotify Premium? <insert eye roll emoji from my kids>
- Does that mean your employer will give you more money?
- Will this get you a new job?
- But then what?
I have enjoyed every DIM course throughout the journey. Classes about process improvement and design/UX have really challenged me during the summer of 2020 (aka “Coronacation” Summer). The winter’s Business Intelligence course pushed me in the right direction (or left direction) to think with the other side of my brain. Last fall’s Information Technology course opened my eyes to learn more about the systems that my marketing skills are trying to sell. But then what?
Passion led me to the DIM program with Temple University, but after that . . . I don’t know what’s next. Is it possible that I’m still trying to discover my passion?
Right now, my passion is this DIM journey. I don’t know where the upcoming dips and climbs will be, and I’m not sure what is around each corner. I know that I’m enjoying it, learning from it, and then eventually it will end. But then what?
To be continued . . .
