Third meeting with Capstone mentor, Collie Turner.
Memo to Company Leaders
1) Is the intent that it would be sent out to industry leaders? (meaning you are just keeping all of your assignment related materials on the site for ease/access, correct?)
2) I really like how you start with the grocery sales statistic in the second sentence. I’d suggest eliminating that first sentence all together. You have definitely got their attention with the $100 billion figure. What I would also suggest you include is a way to tie back to them, how they can get in on that revenue. How easy is it for them to be a part of this food revolution? What is the ask from you to them? (aka, what’s in it for them?) You may want to spell that out. Also, is there an incentive for them to become a partner? I know in your deck you talk about a nominal fee, is there an early adopter offer? I think there is also an important piece to tell retailers that you are connecting them with influencers that can help move their inventory too. Because, you will be asking them to distribute a rev share with the influencer, you may want to think about how to frame that (it may come across as more work that they don’t have the time/staff to do).
3) Finally before you close, tell them that you are going to be in their neighborhood on a particular day at a particular time (or make up that you will be at a national food conference and would like to set aside time to see them)
4) Emily will be handling these relationships, right? I think your letter should come from Emily.
Your prototype has really come to life! When you present will you be showing this or will you be manually presenting with voice over? I know we talked about an API for log in – is that something that you may still consider for future version? If yes, you may want to consider calling that out in the presentation – as its an important part of ease of use for a new user.
I know we talked adding a community tab in the bottom and it looks like you have one in there. Any thoughts about rollovers for those tabs at the bottom (or again is that part of voice over).
Final Presentation Deck
This looks great! I love how you set up the problem.
Slide 5 – for influencers – its about making money and expanding their own reach, right. So say that. You start out with the same phrase as for Users, so you may want to make it a little more enticing and centered around the influencer.
For retail – love the grocery stores with delivery options, forklyft helps them move their inventory and make $$ in a shorter amount of time, while adding new customers beyond their brick and mortar. Something like that perhaps? You say this in your financial model, i think you can pull out elements of that for your upfront elevator pitch.
Also, remember, you are going to know more and more (progressive profiling) about your users over time, right? So you might want to also state for retailers that your app can also help them better understand market trends amongst the virtual customer base. (Again the value add for them)
Slide 26 your marketing channel strategy – for retailers you may want to put a sales person in there, or some sort of drip campaign in your email marketing. You will need someone following up on the leads you get, but at the same time pursuing other connections that will lead to leads. I’d like to see you guys go on The Chew, or Rachel Ray or whoever is big these days as a promo/partnership with a retailer and then someone in the audience wins a recipe with the items from the retailer (or something like that). Will there be any guerrilla marketing? How will you get users to try it out? I believe that is direct solicitation. You may want to consider one slide behind your channel rollout that gives the person you are presenting to an idea of creative ways you are putting Forklyft in front of people and generating buzz.
