My research paper, Black Lives Matter’s Use of Media and Digital Platforms, was entered into, accepted, and presented at the Graduate Student Research Forum in Klein’s College of Media and Communication at Temple University.
During Solutions Journalism, I wrote periodic blog postings and researched and interviewed individuals to write a final solutions-oriented journalism story, with both a written and audio component. My blog postings and solutions-oriented story can be found here: medium.com/@tuf02572.
At the beginning of my Globalization and Development Communication Master’s program, I participated in an intensive month long “boot camp” where we met every evening for three hours. During that time we learned about the historical roots, political influences, institutional arrangements, and cultural considerations that have shaped and defined the field of development communication. In order to assess and demonstrate our comprehension, we wrote several essays on various topics.
In the first essay, The Relationship Between Business and Communication for Development, I reflected on the definitions of the concepts of communication and development. I described the definitions and theoretical approaches that interested me most, explained why, provided examples of specific situations where these models related to my own personal experiences, and explained how I perceived the relevance or irrelevance of these models and approaches to my described situations.
In the second essay, Girls Rising through Participation, Communication, and Education, I analyzed a development communication project, assessed and evaluated the communicative practices employed in Girls Rising, discussed its aims, methods, implementation, outcomes, and evaluation, posited possible communication approaches that could improve the situation, and related it to development and communication theories and models studied in our course.
In Communications in Organizations, I wrote Comparing Leadership Styles, where I analyzed and compared the transformational leadership style and its effectiveness to passive and transactional leadership styles.
As an undergrad, I wrote a paper describing How-can-the-five-bases-of-power-be-best-utilized-in-an-organization-to-maximize-team-performance-and-success ?
My senior year of undergrad, for HR Metrics, I wrote HR-Metrics-Operational-Excellence-and-Cost-Reduction, which described HR Metrics in regards to operational excellence and cost reduction based off of KGW Database numbers. KGW Database was a simulation the class participated in and used to make decisions about the future of the corporation, since we all played the role of an HR professional working at the KGW.
