Improve Your Social Media Presence

February 17, 2022 By Chelle Johnson Leave a Comment

Improve your social media presence with these simple tips.

Social media was created to connect with people. Think about the ways you connect with people in real life. The same rules apply.

It starts with being your full authentic self. When I think about my best friends, they are the people who truly know the real me and that’s why we connect so well. Treat your followers like your friends. Share your true thoughts, talents and opinions with them. Just like in real life, the right people who share your same beliefs or find your talents to be valuable will follow you. Don’t try to appeal to everyone; build a niche audience.

Your relationships with your followers should be a give and take. Nobody likes a friend that they only hear from when they need something. You have to pour into your followers. Check in with them, see how they’re doing, respond to comments and direct messages, ask them what kind of content would benefit them and give them that. In return, they’ll pour back into you by supporting you in new endeavors.

Although it’s tempting to give into only posting perfection, don’t. As human beings we are all flawed. Your unpolished authenticity will be more relatable to your followers than your flawless images and well-rehearsed videos. Your true friends know all of your flaws and accept you anyway, give your followers the same you.

Be consistent. Part of building a relationship with your followers is providing steady content. As your followers become more invested in your craft and your voice, they will be looking forward to regular updates from you. It’s hard to connect with someone when you’re not sure when or if you will hear from them.

The key to an impactful social media presence is to treat your followers like your friends.
