Teem Meeting (w/advisors) 9/17

Attendees:  Gretchen, Justin, Christine, Akasha, Jane, Colleen, Becca, Amy

General Notes:

  • Kudos for logo creation, analysis of related apps,  course site well organized, meeting minutes good length
  • Interaction with mentor will ramp up after this week
  • Competitive Analysis:
    • Where did we land on the app and how are we developing it?  – We are an agency developing the app and Longwood is our first client.
      • What value are we driving to Longwood gardens?
      • What is the business case/reason?
        • To get people to come more often OR to get them to come at all
        • Increasing the frequency of guest visits (customer loyalty)
        • Secondary $$ reason – in-app purchases
    • Think through the business case for what we are doing:  What is the primary $$ purpose of the app?
    • Benchmarking best-in-class tools in the arena – good work 😊
      • Profiling technology is going to help us bring good ideas into our app
      • Look at what other true competitors based on your business case are doing – we can’t figure out who we are truly competing against until we have our business case.
      • Customer acquisition – could convert customers because we are offering this educational mobile experience.  (School groups, etc.)
  • Okay to focus on a few features for the app– MVP has to drive the core business case
  • What is going to compete for a users time? Should drive us to one key takeaway statement  (Example: Everyone’s app is paid, so ours is going to be free or none of the apps are focused on kids and our will, etc) A competitive analysis will bring you to your unique selling point

Action Items (updated in project plan):

  • Think through the business case for what we are doing:  What is the primary $$ purpose of the app? (next week or two)
