Capstone Meetup with Faculty Advisors
Meeting Minutes | 10.09.17
Attendees: Amy Lavin, Rebecca Zinn, Meg Cook, Crystal Lawrence, Kristin Maranki, Kelly Reid
On Data & Process Models:
Amy : You should include the current market share and explain why the app is needed.
Meg : How do we describe that in the data model?
Amy : The data and process models are separate models. The data model should include relevant information that supports the need the this app and the model should tell us the story of the data.
Meg : Do you have an example that I can refer to so I know what this looks like?
Amy : I’ll try to find something for you. But don’t lose the ERD, Meg. That will be helpful for you guys to keep and use later on for your prototype.
Becca : The data model needs some examples. Maybe an infographic about how many people are renting in target cities; how much time it takes the landlord to vet tenants; how much time it takes the renter to find an apartment; how many applications are submitted by the tenant.
On Digital Analysis:
Amy : It was visually appealing how you showed what was currently happening and how RentZen would change that. I would suggest you move the graphics to the top of the page and highlight the steps we’re saving on the process map. Where are the improvements?
Kristin: So we should point out the friction points and how they are addressed.
Meg : Should we go through the digital analysis?
Amy : I thought it looked pretty good. You nailed it. I would think about the presentation on the page but maybe you should add more color. Crystal, I haven’t heard back on the theme.
On Competitive Analysis:
Becca : The competitive analysis needs to be summarized into why RentZen will ultimately beat out the competition.
Becca : The landlord and tenant acquisition will increase if you’re keeping them in the app longer. Adding features will increase app usage and efficiencies of the renting process.
Kristin : David suggested we refine our landlord persona and how to include landlords that are renting more than just one property.
Becca : Co-working spaces have dedicated apps. There are a lot of features in these apps. You may be able to pull some interesting features from this app. Take a look at WeWork.
Kristin : We’re starting to think about the prototype and put together the storyboards.
Amy : When you get into the final presentation decks the visuals will come.
