How many times have you opened your email and scrolled past countless numbers of promotional emails from various companies? Because for me, I do it every day, and then I continue on to delete those emails (in one go) because I have way too many to even think about reading through them. But, I do not unsubscribe from these emails! Why? That is a question I ask myself every time I see “87 unread Emails” pop up.
So, what is email marketing? It is a form of direct marketing that allows companies to send personalized emails to educate and inform their email lists about their products or services. Email marketing can also be used to convince your audience to perform a specific action, like making a purchase, signing up for a trial, or registering for an event. It is an extremely effective digital marketing strategy. When done properly, email marketing has the capability to turn one-time buyers or prospects into repeat customers and turn occasional customers into raving fans.
So, why is email marketing so effective? Well, despite the steady rise of unsolicited spam mail, email marketing still remains the most effective way to nurture and grow a relationship with existing and potential customers. For starters, email is the #1 communication channel, at least 99% of consumers check their email every single day. Another reason why email marketing is so popular is that email marketers own their own email lists. Social media accounts can come and go, and they can be deleted on a whim at any moment, but email marketers’ contact lists are forever. No one can take them away. Another reason why email marketing is so popular is that email marketing has an ROI (return on investment) of 4400%! Customers who buy products from an email spend about 138% more than customers who did not receive any promotional email offers. In fact, the average order value of an email is at least 3 times higher than that of social media.
Email marketing is so interesting, before this DIM program, I used to think of email marketing as emails that crowded and overflowed my inbox, now I actually read through and appreciate these emails! Once I slowed down and actually read through them I found myself shopping more, because they really do have good deals in those emails! Maybe I should not have started reading these emails… I would have at least saved some money…
