My Interests

Hello there!

I love to keep this page fun and casual!

While growing up, I took a ton of trips with friends and family to the deepest parts of India. Back in the day, I also had a thing for writing poems. Those memories are still vivid with lots of fun stories.

My husband and I moved to the US 12 years ago. Over the period, I developed many interests that have allowed me strongly tied to my roots and glorious Indian culture. I learn and try to cook food by watching content on YouTube. Now, I love cooking for my family and find pleasure in hosting guests. A huge shout out to the amazing Chefs out there and their wonderful cooking vlogs for helping me develop my passion for cooking Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, and Fusion food.

The United States is wonderful; visiting prominent cities has been on my bucket list. So far, I have visited quite a few places in the Mid-West, South, East, and I can’t wait to travel to the West Coast.

When not engaged in creating new products and designs, I love my DIY arts and craft projects, and now my 4-year-old joins me too! I may not be the best, but I enjoy my time doing them.

Amidst work, family, child, and now studies, one thing that helps me put my head over my shoulder is Yoga.

The newest thing that interests me, and I am all up to spend some time on it, is designing. I believe learning designing will add value to my work and profile.

Thank you for visiting the “My Interest” page. I trust now you know a bit more about me!

    Arpana,

I absolutely believe in YouTube as a source for all things related to cooking! I’m glad I’m not the only one. The vloggers make it so easy to follow the recipe. Food is the best way to bring people and cultures together to share stories and experiences. It’s fascinating how we can do that through a screen now. Oh, digital innovation!

When you travel to the West Coast, if you happen to make it to Los Angeles I used to live there! I can send you some suggestions for the best food spots to try. Also, a few great yoga spots!

Your level of professionalism paired with your ability to relate to people with casual conversation is something I admire greatly about you! Keep it up and I’m looking forward to the rest of the semester with you in class.

    Hey Kirsten,

Thank you for your encouraging words. Rightly said, food, nature, art, and artists bring the world together.
What else do you like to learn from Youtube? I would say I go to social platforms for probably every question I have under the sun.
I would never miss LA and would take your recommendations too when the time comes. After all, who wouldn’t want to see the world-famous Hollywood Sign? I hope the universe is listening!

I look forward to working with you too.

    Hi Arpana,

Those desserts look amazing, especially the marbled cake! I really need to try my hand at making sweets. I agree with Kirsten – I’ve learned so much about different ingredients and cooking techniques from watching YouTube videos. It’s a great resource.

I think it’s great that you’ve kept your strong ties to India after living in the U.S. for the past 12 years. It’s important to never lose that part of your identity. Food is one of the best ways to keep that connection going, and I love that you’ve made it into a hobby that you can share with others. We’re lucky to have such a diverse cohort to share our unique experiences and backgrounds with each other.

Looking forward to working with you over the next 16 months!
