By now I think we have all taken an Uber ride once in our lives. Or even a Lyft ride which is Uber’s biggest competitor. Did you notice how easy and convenient it is to get a ride? This is not like trying to catch a Taxi. No need to call anyone or give them your location. You just simply open up the Uber app and boom within minutes there is a driver arriving at your location. It is so “simple” and that is what Uber’s UX strategy was meant to be.
UX is supposed to be very simple and that is exactly what Uber portrays. According to the Uber UX Strategy & Case Study by Bansi Mehta, “UX is many things to many people, but at its core, it’s about optimizing a functional experience to appeal to a user’s senses and engage their emotions while they are interacting with a product”. With that being said, Uber has made is so convenient that you can just open up the app and Uber knows your location. It
knows which drives are closest to you. It knows how much the ride is going to cost. The Uber app knows it all without you even having to think about it. That is why Uber’s user experience is one of the best around. I know personally, I will choose Uber over any other drive share apps because of its convenience and safeness. When it comes to UX and an app, you want to make sure that everything is running smoothly at all times and Uber has definitely achieved this goal from the start.
What are your experiences with Uber? Do you agree or disagree that this is a very smooth process?
