@kelly-reid Hi Kelly! I see that your currently work at QVC as a Social Media Specialist. I interned at QVC from September 2014 to May 2015 as the Content Strategy intern for hosts David Venable and Jill Bauer. I’d love to chat about our experiences at QVC and using social media. I’m sure we may even know some of the same people from QVC. Look […] View

Hi Adrienne! I think that you make a great point about how content performs on different social media platforms. I manage a Facebook and Twitter account in higher education in which we aim to market our products to students. We find too that Twitter is our best outlet to market to students. We also have found that Facebook today tends to have an…[Read more]

Casey, I’m really glad you posted about this! I think that social media has played a huge role in the election this time around. I am not sure if it’s because almost every American has some form of social media or if it’s because this particular election has been so controversial. I know I can’t go on to Facebook, Snap Chat, or Instagram without seeing some sort of political rant from someone. Thesefacts don’t shock me at all. I think that its give a lot of people a place to have an open discussion about the election as well, which is all very interesting. I know I personally can’t wait to go on my social media platforms and not see a politically charged posted for a while. Come on November!

I was very interested to see in your piece that social media actually influenced voting behavior. I always assumed social media just validated what users already believe.

Is that politicians’ intent, I wonder? To turn out the vote?

You made such an interesting point. I made the assumption in my post that BloomNation would most likely see success when breaking into the wedding industry since Etsy has performed so well in the wedding industry. However I failed to realize the difference between ordering a simple bouquet and ordering flowers for an entire event. I think this is…[Read more]

I really liked the way you structured your argument using the author’s framework. I also noted the point about scale-ability and market expansion.

    Hi Kristin,

I couldn’t agree with you more. I saw a lot of what you explained play out at a previous internship. When I interned at QVC during my senior year of college, QVC made the move to become a global company and operate under the same system around their different locations around the world. This was extremely similar to the Wyeth case…[Read more]

    Hi Lauren,

Journalism is a broad field. Hi Kelly,

Happy to see a fellow Temple alum in this program as well! We have a lot in common in our background, from working at QVC and working in NYC. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to work with one another this…[Read more]

Hi Casey! I love the graphic you used at the end. I think it is a great illustration of how we can map out ideas using system thinking. I agree system thinking is crucial to the innovation of marketing. I believe with the introduction of digital marketing and an increase of technology-driven tools some tradtional systems used by companies have been worn down by the influx of data. Instead of approaching issues from an holistic view, some companies are “patching” traditional systems with temporary or unsuccessful solutions. I think it’s essential to understand the problems your team is facing and understand how they relate to how your current system is functioning. Once you understand your issues and how your system functions, you can successfully identify and integrate opportunities for digital innovation.
