Spotify and Hulu are teaming up to attract younger consumers. College students can now subscribe to both Spotify Premium and Hulu TV for just $4.99 per month. This back-to-school deal is the latest effort to appeal to millennials, who favor online subscription services.
Ikea’s latest campaign, also targeting a millennial audience, partners with social media influencers and promotes items for college dorms. The paid ad spots on Snapchat feature video clips, quizzes, and an option to click through to Ikea’s website. The brand, whose core demographic is Millennials, recognizes that traditional ads aren’t most effective to their target audience.
Old Navy continued its success in creating original content specifically for their back-to-school ads. This years campaign involved releasing eight original songs with corresponding videos, each one showcasing teachers outfitted in the brand’s 2017 back-to-school collection. Old Navy partnered with Pharrell Williams to assist in the songwriting and recording process. The brand is also sponsoring a fundraising campaign for Boys and Girls Clubs of America, raising money in stores and matching all in-store donations up to $350,000.
